2. Cookie
2.1 Informazioni generali sui cookie

Type of data processed and purposes of processing

1. Browsing data
The IT systems and software procedures that ensure the functioning of this Website, acquire personal data in the course of their standard operation which are implicitly communicated whilst using Internet communication protocols.

This information is not collected to be associated with identified data subjects; yet, by reason of its nature, it might allow for users/visitors to be identified (e.g. IP addresses, domain names of the computers of users connecting to the Website, the code indicating the status of the server's response, the type of browser. etc.) via processing with data held by third parties.

This data is used solely for statistical information (and thus are anonymous) and to check the proper operation of the Website. Data on web contacts are kept for up to six months, subject to any investigations on IT crimes committed to the detriment of the Website.

No data deriving from the web service will be communicated or disseminated.

2. Cookies

2.1 General information on cookies

Cookies are small text files that are sent by the websites visited by users to their terminal equipment (typically to users’ browser), where they are stored and then backer-transmitted to the same websites every time these are visited via the same terminal equipment. In addition, every website can send the so-called 'third party' cookies, i.e. cookies generated by websites other than the website being visited by the user (via elements included therein such as banners, images, maps, sounds, files specific links to web pages of different domains).

Depending on their duration, cookies can be session cookies (i.e. temporary cookies which are automatically cancelled by the terminal equipment at the end of the browing session, closing the browser) and persistent cookies (i.e. cookies that remain stored on the terminal equipment until their expiry or cancellation by the user).
Cookies serve different purposes. First of all, they are used to carry out the transmission of a communication or to provide the service requested by the user; specifically, they enable the operation and optimization of the website, the performance of IT authentication and the prevention of unlawful use, the monitoring of sessions; they also improve the browsing experience of users, e.g. by keeping active the connection to reserved areas during their navigation across the pages of a website without having to re-enter their User-Id and password, storing specific information on users themselves (including their preferences, type of browser and computer used).

These cookies are “technical” (the user's prior consent is not necessary), because some of the aforesaid operations could not be carried out or would be more complex and/or less secure without them.

Instead, if cookies are used for further purposes, typically to analyse user behaviour and to send targeted ads messages (so-called “profiling cookies”) or even only to obtain, via third party services, aggregate information on the number of users and on how they visit the website (so-called (“analytics cookies”) the user's prior consent is required. In fact, before sending these cookies to the terminal equipment, in accordance with the privacy law in force (Privacy Code and the General Resolution on cookies adopted by Italian Data Protection Authority on May 8, 2014), on accessing the home page (or any other landing page) of a website, the user must be shown immediately a banner, providing the short information notice on the use of cookies and the request of the user's consent, which the user can give by continuing browsing by selecting any item on the page underneath the banner or by closing the banner itself.

In any event, cookies can be read or modified only by the website that generated them; they cannot be used to retrieve data from the user's terminal and cannot spread viruses. Some functions of cookies can be performed also by other technology; therefore, in this web privacy policy, "cookies" mean both cookies and any similar technology.

2.2 Use of cookies in this Website

This Website can use both session cookies and persistent cookies. The cookies generated directly by this Website are:

  • technical” cookies used: a) to customize the user interface (e.g., to store user preferences such as language, currency, page display format, connection area); b) to ensure a better use of the website and of its audio-visual content (e.g., via programmes such as Flash Player); c) for a proper website connection (e.g., by appropriately directing the user's requests across several servers).

2.3 "Third party" cookies

This Website also allows for the transmission to the user's terminal equipment of cookies of third parties with which Telecom Italia Sparkle S.p.A. collaborates. As a technical intermediary, Telecom Italia Sparkle S.p.A. simply sends these cookies without managing their operation (thus having no control over or access to any information given/acquired) because their operation falls within the responsibility of third parties. For these cookies, the information notice and the consent forms of such third parties are available by clicking on the links. Such third parties are:
a) social media that manage cookies typically to enable, via plug-ins, the sharing of content among the "logged-in" members of a given social network. Those subjects are:

• Twitter

b) subjects whose services are used by Telecom Italia Sparkle S.p.A. to collect aggregate/statistical information on the users visiting this Website. In fact, the service Google Analytics (www.google.com/privacy) provided by the company Google.

2.4 Management of cookie-related choices

Cookies can be managed by the user via his or her browser.
The user can manage his cookie preferences via major browser applications (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari), thereby cancelling/removing (some or all) cookies or changing his browser settings to disable cookies or restrict them to specific websites. For more information on how to change your browser settings (usually from the toolbar), you can visit the 'Help' web pages of the providers of the said browsers (available also via any common search engine).

The supply of Website services is not prevented per se where cookies are disabled; however, if all the cookies, including technical cookies, are cancelled/blocked, some operations may not be completed or may become more complex and/or less secure, including some activities in the Website Reserved Area (in fact, cookies allow for and maintain the user identified during a session).

3. Data provided voluntarily by users/visitors

Global Wholesale Providers study based on over 1400 carrier ratings rewards TI Sparkle’s Data Products quality and price competitiveness as well as TI Sparkle’s Sales team professionalism and technical expertise.

Telecom Italia Sparkle has received today the two awards from industry research and analysis firm Atlantic-ACM. The award ceremony took place in Honolulu during the Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC).

The ATLANTIC-ACM Global Wholesale Report Card is an independent, market-wide customer survey study of leading global wholesale providers. More than 300 respondents, representing over 250 unique global wholesale providers, supplied above more than 1,400 individual carrier ratings, grading global wholesale service providers in categories that include brand, sales representatives, provisioning, network performance, billing, customer service and numerous quality and price competitiveness categories for voice and data services.

For the first time this year, rated operators were segmented into Large, Midsized and Under categories. In addition to TI Sparkle, the Large Global Carrier segment included AT&T, Verizon, Orange, Deutsche Telecom, BT and Telefonica.

TI Sparkle won in two categories: the Sales Reps category, which rates sales teams in terms of Professionalism, Integrity, Technical Expertise as well as Proactive and Consultative Selling. The second category is Data Value which rates all Data products' quality and price competitiveness. Data services include Ethernet, IP Services and Managed Bandwidth.

“We are very proud of these awards - states Riccardo Delleani, Telecom Italia Sparkle Chief Executive Officer - and of the timing. In fact, Sparkle is a sales oriented organization that has just started a transformation process with the goal of becoming a global smart data company. The fact that already today the market recognizes the value of our Data products and the expertise of our sales team means we are definitely on the right track towards our objective”.

Last November 2012, TI Sparkle had made it into the TOP 5 Global Internet Backbones ranking in TeleGeography’s 2012 annual survey, the Global Internet Research Service that provides analysis and statistics on internet capacity, traffic and IP transit pricing.

"Telecom Italia Sparkle's win in Data Value illustrates their commitment to providing high quality data products offered at a compelling price," said ATLANTIC-ACM President Fedor Smith. "In addition, their highly rated Sales Reps indicate the company maintains a consistent effort to support future data needs for their customers."

In 2012 the award for Best Data Product Value had been assigned to TATA and Level 3 Communications, while the award for Best Sales Rep to Telefonica.

Reston, June 05, 2013

Transaction Network Services (TNS), a leading global provider of data communications and interoperability solutions, and TI Sparkle (TIS), the international service provider of Telecom Italia Group, announce the implementation of a multi-service IPX peering connection. The new interconnection will support the exchange of Mobile Signaling and GRX traffic and also ensures end-to-end differentiated Class of Service.

The multi-service connection adds to the increasing number of IPX peering operators while contributing to the growth of the IPX community worldwide. Furthermore, the agreement allows TNS to benefit from TIS’ global reach and extensive IPX coverage while TIS will expand its own footprint in North America via TNS.

“The relationship with TNS represents an important step towards the adoption of IPX as the standard for next-generation IP-based services” states Elisabetta Ripa, TIS Chief Executive Officer, “Operators can easily access IP services via a single, private and secure IP interconnection, voice and data services in a ‘future-proof’ environment, helping them to expand their business globally with the introduction of new advanced services”.

IPX offers a next-generation alternative to the internet that combines the flexibility and efficiency of the IP world with the security and reliability of traditional TDM networks. This is particularly significant for network operators as they transition to an all-IP environment to capture efficiencies and support new services such as; LTE Roaming, Voice over LTE, HD voice, IP videoconferencing and IMS/RCS-based enhanced communication applications.

“TNS is thrilled to announce the new relationship with TIS, a recognized innovator in global carrier services,” said Surendra Saboo, CEO of TNS’ Telecom Services Division. “Connecting our IPX networks is a significant step toward TNS and TIS’ common objective of establishing a worldwide community of interest for next generation roaming services including LTE, VoLTE, RCS, and other value added services”.

Together TNS and TIS share a belief in open standards and collaboration with industry partners that advance the interests of mobile customers, namely impeccable service quality, profitable growth and innovation. Through this interconnection, TNS and TIS will be able to further achieve these goals and enable the development of 4G technologies going forward.

TI Sparkle is a leader and pioneer in the VOIP business, has been running a full IP soft-switch, multi-service network with Global MPLS capabilities since 2004. As a co-founding member of the i3forum, TI Sparkle was one of the first international carriers to migrate its bilateral voice traffic to IP successfully, and one of the first service providers to offer an IPX solution which is both compliant with the guidelines of the i3Forum as well as the GSMA specifications to support existing and next generation IP- based services.

Telecom Italia Sparkle announces world's first LTE™ roaming peering with Tata Communications

New york, June 07, 2013

Tata Communications, a leading provider of A New World of Communications, and Telecom Italia Sparkle, a leading global operator and the international services arm of Telecom Italia Group, today announce the implementation of the world's first LTE roaming peering between two IPX providers. This industry-first peering extends the global community of interconnected LTE™-enabled mobile network operators (MNOs) as 4G adoption continues to grow.

With 4G LTE™ revenues projected to exceed $100bn globally in 2014[i], LTE™ roaming enablement is critical to maximising revenue growth. This peering will enable the exchange of LTE™ roaming traffic between Tata Communications and Telecom Italia Sparkle’s networks, creating an interconnected infrastructure that combines the quality and security of the respective IPX networks.

Genius Wong, Senior Vice President of Global Network Services at Tata Communications, says, “We expect the demand for 4G services to explode within the next two years. To ensure that mobile operators are able to cope with this trend, it’s crucial that the interconnection and interworking complexities of global LTE™ roaming are eliminated. Peering with Telecom Italia Sparkle supports our mission to drive efficiencies in the industry, enabling MNOs to focus on their core competencies while maximising the revenue opportunities around next-generation networks.”

The LTE™ roaming peering between Tata Communications and Telecom Italia Sparkle is an extension of an existing IPX inter-provider interconnect between the two companies, which supports live traffic including signalling, voice and data roaming, as well as end-to-end QoS.

Leonardo Cerciello, Vice President Marketing at Telecom Italia Sparkle, says, “This LTE™ roaming peering with Tata Communications comes shortly after the launch of our Diameter Signalling solution that supports LTE™ roaming and will help increase the value of our respective networks for interconnected MNO’s. We intend to extend these peering agreements further in order to facilitate MNOs in the adoption of new services, as 4G continues to gather pace.”

As part of Tata Communications’ aim to simplify global roaming complexity, the company recently introduced an LTE™ Roaming Service, as the latest addition to our IPX+ multi-services solutions portfolio. Built on the company’s leading global data network, the LTE™ Roaming Service provides the reach, scale, and reliability for mission-critical operations and enables MNOs to fast track their roll-out of LTE™ roaming in a cost-effective and scalable manner, while creating differentiation in a highly competitive marketplace.

The end-to-end managed solution leverages the company’s extensive experience as the largest mobile signalling inter-provider to streamline roaming interconnect arrangements between mobile operators, replacing the need for hundreds of bilateral peer associations with a single centralised robust interconnect point. This simplifies roaming interconnect to deliver a seamless user experience and assure service continuity as mobile operators migrate to 4G.

Rio de Janeiro, October 10, 2013

TIM Brazil’s and Telecom Italia’s mobile LTE customers will benefit from top quality 4G roaming when travelling between Brazil and Italy.

Telecom Italia Sparkle’s LTE Diameter Signaling service is the first LTE roaming solution between South America and Europe that will enable 4G roaming for TIM Brazil and TIM LTE customers when travelling between Italy and Brazil, with guaranteed top quality of service.

TIM and TIM Brazil are leading mobile players in their home markets, respectively Italy and Brazil. TI Sparkle is Telecom Italia Group’s international operator and it has developed a global IPX network with LTE roaming peering agreements spanning from Europe to North America and Asia.

TIM and TIM Brazil will make LTE roaming available to their respective end customers in 2014. Brazil is a 4G pioneer in South America and LTE roaming availability in the country gains particular relevance in view of the upcoming World’s football championship in mid-2014.

Frankfurt, March 30, 2015

DE-CIX to establish neutral Internet exchange at key landing site for Mediterranean, Africa and Middle East Internet traffic at TI Sparkle’s latest Next Generation Data Center in Palermo

TI Sparkle, the International Services arm of Telecom Italia Group, is announcing a new partnership with the world’s leading Internet exchange provider, DE-CIX, who will establish an Internet exchange (IX) in “Sicily Hub,” TI Sparkle’s latest Next Generation Data Center in Palermo.

DE-CIX provides premium IX services to all kinds of networks and operates numerous carrier-neutral and data center-neutral Internet exchanges around the world, including its flagship exchange, DE-CIX Frankfurt. The new exchange will be based on DE-CIX’s leading APOLLON platform, which provides unmatched scalability and performance.

DE-CIX’s new exchange at Sicily Hub was designed to allow carriers that land their IP backbones in Sicily to directly interconnect with each other and to other providers that have a presence in the facility. These other providers include some of the world’s most well-known and largest content players.

The new TI Sparkle facility is located closer to North Africa, the Mediterranean and the Middle East than any other European peering point. It is also connected to all cable landing stations in Sicily and served by the TI Sparkle tier 1-grade IP Transit service, Seabone.

In addition, Sicily Hub’s open and resilient configuration supports carriers and ISPs that want to enhance the redundancy of their networks, while enjoying a rich ecosystem and market place of multi-breed interconnected players.

Our partnership with DE-CIX and their new IX node in our Sicily Hub is the most important milestone in the creation of a massive IP gravitational center in the middle of the Mediterranean” says Alessandro Talotta, TI Sparkle CEO. “We will be able to better serve ISPs in the area, including Africa and the Middle East, by bringing worldwide content directly to their doorsteps. The presence of DE-CIX’s leading global carrier-neutral Internet exchange as well as the most relevant global content providers that deliver media, gaming, e-commerce, social networks and video platforms, make Sicily Hub the best location for top-quality and cost-efficient public and private peering in the region.

“There is an intense need in the region to bring content closer to the end users” confirms Harald A. Summa, DE-CIX President. “The powerful combination of Sicily Hub and DE-CIX’s APOLLON platform will support Internet growth in this region so that end users will have a better Internet experience, better security and a lower risk of network outages.

TI Sparkle’ Sicily Hub has been designed with the most advanced technologies and follows the most restrictive technical parameters typical of Telecom Italia Group’s Next Generation Data Centers.
This partnership between TI Sparkle and DE-CIX represents a first step towards a wider collaboration that will extend to other locations in the Mediterranean.

TI Sparkle is infrastructural leader in the Americas with new USD 300 Million long term investment in Seabras-1 cable connecting Brazil and US

Rome, January 12, 2016

Main Investor is Seaborn Networks, a developer and operator of submarine fiber cable systems, while Alcatel Lucent is deploying the construction

TI Sparkle, the International Services arm of Telecom Italia Group, announces a long term investment of over USD 300 million for the realization of a new network system based on three fiber pairs out of the total six pairs composing Seabras-1.
Seabras-1 is the only submarine cable system directly connecting Sao Paulo, Brazil, to New York, USA, that will go in full operation by 2017 with an initial design capacity of 72 Terabytes.

Built with the best technologies available today and designed to reduce latency and increase reliability with respect to all other existing systems in the region, Seabras-1 will support the fast growing demand of capacity originating in South America, especially Brazil, along the South to North America route, one of the most relevant IP traffic streams globally which records yearly growth rates of over 35%* and contributes over 30%* of the global market value.

In addition to the three express fiber pairs connecting Wall, New Jersey, US, to Praia Grande, Brazil, TI Sparkle’s investment includes a Branch Unit in Fortaleza, Brazil and a protected backhaul between New York and Miami to connect Seabras-1 to existing proprietary infrastructure, thus ensuring full network resiliency with top service quality.

“Seabras is one of the largest one-time infrastructural investment made by Sparkle”, says Alessandro Talotta, Chairman and CEO of TI Sparkle, “which will make us by far leader in the Americas wholesale market supported by the largest, most advanced and reliable network in the Region. We are witnessing a surge of high capacity deals and with this latest investment we are fullly able to cater to this new demand, typically coming from OTTs and Content Providers”, continues Alessandro Talotta. “Last but not least, with Seabras we are able to hold onto our top ranking position as best IP quality route between North and South America for quite some time and continue to satisfy the lower latency needs of specific segments like financial institutions and the gaming industry by providing a private IP connection type of quality on the public internet”, concludes Talotta.

“We are very pleased to further enhance our long-term relationship with Sparkle as part of our deployment of Seabras-1”, says Larry Schwartz, Chairman and CEO of Seaborn Networks. “This new system, on one of the world’s most important transoceanic routes, will help to accelerate broadband development for Brazil and other South American countries.”

Through Seabras-1 and the backhaul extensions from cable landing points to main PoPs in New York and Sao Paulo, TI Sparkle will also provide easy onward connectivity to rest of world since the New York metropolitan area is an international gateway to Europe, the Middle East and Africa via trans-Atlantic cables, and will enable high speed routes to the West coast of the US to connect to Asia via trans-Pacific cables.

In addition Seabras-1 ensures highest reliability as it will maintain a lower number of active system elements, thereby reducing the probability of system failure.

By offering direct connectivity between Sao Paulo and New York together with onward connectivity and reliability, TI Sparkle is a compelling choice for carriers, content providers, and any other player that values a direct, low latency route between Brazil and the United States.

SEA-ME-WE 5 consortium awards Sparkle with Network Administrator and Network Operations Center responsibilities

Rome, May 09, 2016

Both functions to be operated by Sparkle in Catania, Sicily, where SEA-ME- WE 5 lands

Sparkle, the International services arm of Telecom Italia Group and a leading global operator, announces that it has been awarded by the SEA-ME-WE 5 consortium of both Network Administrator (NA) and Network Operation Center (NOC) responsibilities for the new cable system.
The two responsibilities have been assigned to Sparkle as outcome of a tender process participated by several consortium members, and the result represents an important recognition of Sparkle’s affirmed competence and know-how in managing and operating submarine cable systems.
Both activities will be performed in Sparkle’s Core Landing Station in Catania, which is also a main landing point in Europe for SEA-ME-WE 5 - as well as for other major international cable systems.
With a design capacity set at 24 Terabit per second on 3 fiber pairs deployed by a consortium of 19 carriers including Sparkle, the new cable system is due to come into service by the end of this year and will provide lowest latency connectivity through 16 countries - Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Oman, UAE, Yemen, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, France and Italy - offering an additional network layer of diversity and resilience for the heavily loaded Asia to Europe route.
Sparkle’s connectivity solutions out of Sicily - will be available to SEA-ME-WE 5 through Sparkle’s Next Generation Data Center and open ecosystem located in Palermo - Sicily Hub - a rich service marketplace interconnected with all international cables landing in Sicily, where customers can also peer directly with content providers or publicly through DE-CIX.
SEA-ME-WE 5 is the first cable in the Europe-to-Asia route to provide advanced connectivity solutions on a POP-to-POP basis from open telehouses in Europe - such as Sparkle Sicily Hub - as well as in Singapore, in a decisive effort to effectively address today’s demand for IP and capacity services, while facilitating network interconnection and improving performance.
With its participation in the SEA-ME-WE 5 consortium, Sparkle has secured its leadership in the fast growing Asia to Middle East and Europe route, enhancing its proposition with a diversified and low latency route to and from Asia. And with the recent opening of Sicily Hub in Palermo, Sparkle is further strengthening its role as leading European hub in the Mediterranean.

Telecom Italia Group to support the European Commission’s move to the Cloud

Rome, May 10, 2016

The four framework contracts have an estimated maximum value of approximately 10
million Euros

European institutions to take advantage of cloud to run, test and develop, among other
things, Big Data and storage workloads

Telecom Italia Group, through Sparkle and Olivetti, has been awarded a contract to support the European Commission
(EC) move to the cloud, in the context of an Interinstitutional call for tenders (DIGIT/R2/PO/2014/043) launched by the
EC, Directorate-General for Informatics with a system of reopening of competition to four contractors. The two year
contracts (with two possible one year extensions) will benefit almost sixty institutions, bodies and agencies of the EU.
Working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies, TIM and its companies are recognized as qualified Cloud
services providers within a framework contract. All four framework contracts have an estimated maximum value of 10
million Euros.
The successful tender is the result of the synergies between Sparkle, one of the world’s leading global
telecommunication service provider of IP, Data and Cloud & Data Center solutions, and Olivetti, Telecom Italia Group’s
Digital center focusing on IT solutions and services.
The integrated offering is based on AWS’ cloud platform which leverages the regions in the EU, providing quality,
reliability, flexibility, security and data privacy, meeting the EC’s core requirements.
Working together Sparkle, Olivetti and AWS will support the EC and other European Institutions move to the cloud to
gain the benefits of lower operating costs, faster innovation and increased security.
“This qualification confirms Sparkle as a trusted partner for the provision of advanced Cloud solutions to European citizens
and institutions – states Alessandro Talotta, Chairman and CEO of Sparkle - leveraging on its unique global commercial
and infrastructural presence.”
Riccardo Delleani, CEO of Olivetti, comments: “This tender qualification testifies Olivetti’s pivotal role as Cloud solution
provider within the Telecom Italia Group; moreover, it reaffirms the international vocation of the company in the Digital
offer as well as in the more traditional hardware sector – given that Olivetti already makes about 40% of its revenues
abroad”.
“We’re seeing increasing demand from Public Sector customers looking to move important workloads to the AWS cloud,”
said Max Peterson, Head of EMEA Public Sector at Amazon Web Services. “Working with our partners Sparkle and
Olivetti, AWS will provide the EC with a fast, scalable, innovative and highly secure cloud platform.”
The agreement with the European Commission consolidates and strengthens the relationship between the European
institutions and Telecom Italia that, along with Sparkle, had already won in 2013 the call for the provision of
connectivity solutions to the European Central Bank.
